Sunrise Sports and Entertainment and the Florida Panthers announced in May 2006 that the City of Weston approved plans for the design, management and operation of a new ice rink in the city of Weston, Florida, less than 10 miles from the BankAtlantic Center.
Upon completion, the Florida Panthers will move their practice facility to the brand new state-of-the-art hockey complex in Weston. The new incredible ICE — Weston rink will include two National Hockey League regulation-size ice rinks, a pro shop, restaurants, a skater's lounge and three basketball courts. The new facility will also be able to convert into a multipurpose space to hold events such as volleyball games and gymnastics competitions.
Currently, the Panthers practice at incredible ICE — Coral Springs. incredible ICE — Coral Springs is a 75,000 square foot facility, with twin ice skating rinks and entertainment facilities located in Coral Springs, Florida. incredible ICE boasts one of the most competitive adult and youth ice hockey programs in the state of Florida.
Since the Florida Panthers inception in 1993, hockey in South Florida has grown at a frenzied pace. incredible ICE - Coral Springs has run hockey camps, as well as field competitive junior teams that are now competing with the best junior teams in North America. More South Florida kids are growing up, playing hockey and going to college on hockey scholarships. The new incredible ICE — Weston will greatly increase the number of South Floridians that will learn and play the game of hockey.
